Fostering Digital Sovereignty in Africa

The Africa GovAI Summit 2026 brings together heads of state, policymakers, and technology leaders to define the future of AI governance on the continent.

Background & Justification

African countries are entering a new era where the effectiveness of public institutions will determine their capacity to compete globally. Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents a historic opportunity to leapfrog traditional governance limitations and modernize public administration at scale.

The Summit will launch the I-GOV SUITE, a comprehensive ecosystem of nine AI-enabled platforms designed to modernize governance across critical sectors.

Objectives

  • 01.Present the I-GOV SUITE Architecture: Introduce the nine AI-powered governance platforms.
  • 02.Facilitate High-Level Policy Dialogue: Create a space for leaders to discuss the strategic role of AI.
  • 03.Promote Sovereign AI Infrastructure: Mobilize support for the Ghana-based AI Data Center and Cloud.
  • 04.Launch the Africa AI Governance Roadmap: Validate a framework for (2026–2030).

Expected Results

  • Adoption of a Continental Vision for AI in Governance.
  • Validation of the I-GOV SUITE Ecosystem.
  • Mobilization of Political and Financial Support.
  • Launch of Pilot Countries for the I-GOV SUITE.

Governance Structure

The summit is organized under a robust framework ensuring accountability and strategic alignment:

Organizing Committee (OC): Led by the Government of Ghana, AfCFTA, and AUC.

Technical Working Groups (TWGs): Providing sectoral expertise for each I-GOV platform.

Private Sector & Innovation Advisory Board: Experts from global tech companies and innovation hubs.
